Intaglio Update

So here's the finished products of my intaglio project. Overall, I'm not extremely happy with how they turned out. I wish I had chosen an image with a lot more texture and depth, which I think would have really complemented this process. Also, we used plexi-glass for these prints, and I found it almost impossible to see what I was doing. That was pretty awful. I would really like to try intaglio again on copper plates, so I can avoid this drawback of cheap plexi-glass.

This is the simplest type of print. I rubbed black ink into the carved out areas. After I took this photo, I think I carved a little more to get the values deeper, but you get the idea.

This second and third images used a technique called chine-colle, where delicate paper was stuck to the heavier paper during the printing process. I'm not extremely happy with how my examples turned out, but I was intrigued by the technique and I would like to use it again.

The last two images used what is called a top-roll. I rubbed black ink into the grooves in the same way that I did in the first prints. Then, I rolled a layer of pink ink on top. I think this is my favorite of my prints. I really love the pink color I chose to use - I find it unsettling in an awesome way.
